Cristian Băcanu is a member of the Romanian Parliament. He is member of the ruling center-right party PNL, part of the current governing coalition in Romania, and sits on the Executive Board of the party. He is the Vice-President of the Joint Special Committee of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate to combat human trafficking. He is also a member of the Legal Committee and of the parliamentary friendship group with the USA (PRO-America group). Currently, he serves as the Chairman of the Parliamentary friendship group with Germany. Previously, he was Secretary of State in the Ministry of Justice. A business lawyer by profession, he is a graduate of the Executive MPA at the Hertie School.
